Drinking Party

when I was in high school,I had many great friends.

we always made noise in class and it made our teacher annoyed.

but we did not care about that because we are too young and energetic to keep quiet.

these are the friends who I spent a lot of time with.
yesterday, I had an alumni association with my classmate in high school!

we held drinking party because all of us are over 20 years old.
it was so fun!
I love the atmosphere of them because they are not put on the air.
as our high school is girls' high school,it means there no boys in our high school, we did not need to put on airs!
I hope that I keep in touch with them from now on!

Do Not Look The Other Way

this is my first essay of Writting!

People do not know about the fact that great deals of seals are killed in Canada by seal-hunters. About 300,000 seals are killed per year, and almost a million of them have been killed for the last these three years. (Canada 2) They are destroyed by sealers quiet cruel way. Sealers hunt them for the sake of selling their skins. Sealskins can be sold at a high price. As their furs look beautiful, people purchase them. These papers will show the true and terrible fact of seal-hunting in Canada.

The government of Canada permits hunters to hunt seals and even they subsidize them. Administration says that the hunt must be done in a humanity way. (Canada 1) In reality, however, these white creatures are killed by hunters quiet atrocious way. Hunters hit their head two or three times with clubs called Hakapics that can destroy them without a bullet hole. Using guns would damage their fur, so they seldom use guns. They do not want to downgrade to their pelts. However, these way lead to awful facts that “over 40 percent of the seals are skinned alive.”(SEAL 1) They are skinned while they go off into a faint, and when they recover their consciousness, they are dying in terrible torture.

In addition to these facts, there are sadder realities. After they were killed, “Most of the meat is wasted and left on the ice”(SEAL 3). This shows that hunters kill them only for their pelts. After have finished hunting, white ice land is changed into a red bloody land. There is nothing but blood and a lot of carcasses that have no skin.

Considering all these facts, a large number of seals have been killed by seal-hunters quiet atrocious way in Canada. Human beings are the cruelest creatures on the earth. There are no living things that kill other creatures only for the sake of getting their pelts, except for human beings. People think fur is more important than other creatures’ lives. People should not look the other way of these terrible facts, and people have to know and think about the importance of life.

house

my family was bothered by the students of the junior high school which stood next to my home.
we are often annoyed with their mischievous acts.
sometimes, they played "Pin-Pon-Dash", in Japanese; pushing the button of my house's intercom, they had run away before I opend the door.
the basebal team had practices everyday.
one day, the basebal players hit a home-run, and the ball broke a window of my house.
the principal of the school came to us to appologize and to make a recompensation for it.
but I could not for give the players themselves because they did not say sorry.
how rude they were!
I feel anger whenever I recall that accident.
another accurrance was so provocatine.
they teased my dogs, throwing stones at it and poking with a stick.
when I watched the exact scene, I get on outburst of bury and seized them.
I demanded them to bring in their teacher.
the teacher said "I'm so sorry. I will tell them never to do that again."
after that, they never offended me and my family.
now that, somethimes the students are noisy, but my family are spending peaceful days.

Journey

have you ever been to abroad?
if you have, what was the most memorable journey you have ever made in your life?

the most memorable journey in my life is homestay in Boston.
I participated in the homestay program in the scond grade at high school.
Although I had had confidence in my English before then, I could not make myself understood in English.
I lost my confidence and was very shocked.
this experience tought me how difficult and interesting to communicate with people who have different cultures and language.
and after that, I am interested in English much more.

after studied English about two years, I paticipated in homestay program again in the second grade at university.
I could make myself understood in English this time.
and I felt that English is international and convinient language to communicate with people who have different mother language.
I want to learn English much more and I hope I could be speak English fluently!

Chicago

last Friday was Movie Day!

it means that my family watched some DVDs at home.

we saw "Chicago"

have you ever seen "Chicago"?

this movie is one of my favorite movie.

I tell you reasons that why I like this movie.

I like musical movies very much.

I have seen many musical movies like "My fair lady","An American in Paris", and of course "The sound of silence", and Chicago is the best!

In the movie, how wonderful Renee's acting and Catharine's dance were!

I felt as if I were in the musical theater.

So Chicago is my favorite movie.

If you have never seen this movie, you should see!

my neighbor, Totoro.

I saw a movie "My Neighbor, Totoro" last Friday.
I remember that, when I was little age, I believed in Totoro as a real being.
In that movie, appear many Pitch-black creatures, named "Makkuro-Kurosuke", about the size of a ping-pong ball.
And I also believed them to exist in real world, especially on the second floor of my grandmothere's house.
So everytime my family visited her, I went up to looking for them singing "Makkuro-Kurosuke come out! Or we will poke your yeyballs out!"
In that movie, a kind cat transfigures itselfs into a bus to carry a little girl to the hospital where her mother is hospitalized.
The seat of the cat bus is as soft, smooth and fluffy as the back of cat.
Getting on board of the special bus, the little girl called "Mei" was happy and comfortable with a corn in her hand.
She wanted to present the sweet corn to her mother in a hospital.
And then I was looking forward to taking a ride on the "cat bus" really.
Now, I do not believe in all of them anymore.
Ithink that I was so pure that I could not doubt anything.

Cross -Cultural Communication

Cross-cultural communication is the communication between people who have different culture. In the other word, it is the communication between people who have different ideas, customs, and social behavior of particular people or society. In generally, it indicates verbal communication in different country or religion. Sometimes it is difficult for people between different cultures to communicate and understanding other cultures clearly, because every culture have different points of view about other cultures. Japanese culture and American culture is often mentioned as opposite culture. Compare these two country that have different culture, they have many different way of communication: tacit understanding, personal space, and verbal communication.
In the first place, Tacit understanding is the understanding that arises from the unconscious self, a part of the mind outside the range of normal awareness (Dubin 1). It means that understood or implied without being stated. Cross-cultural communication can be divided into two types, high-context communication and low-context. High-context communication features “Pre-programmed information that is in the receiver and in the setting, with only minimal information in the transmitted message”(Samovan 23). On the other hand, Low-context communication transactions “Most of the information must be in the transmitted message in order to make up for what is missing in the context”(25). The typical high-context communication culture is Japanese culture, and the typical low-context communication culture is America.
In generally, Japanese people are good at tacit understanding. For example, when their friend looks less energetic, they consider that she has worries and they would ask her to tell them her worries. Japanese culture is called tacit understanding culture. On the other hand, people in the low-context culture, like Americans are not good at tacit understanding. They mostly cannot aware her worries until she tell them that she has worries. In high-context culture, messages are the norm in most collectivistic societies, and a great amount of information is held in common among members, and so less needs to be said explicitly. Consequence of this, if people do not know about the fact that they have different context in different cultures, it bring about unexpected misunderstand.
In the second plase, Verbal communication is when people communicate their message verbally to whoever is receiving the message(63). Non-verbal communication is ways of communication without verbal communication: tone down or up the voice, facial expression, body language, and eye contact. Eye contact can make a clear distinction between America and Japan. In America, direct eye contact communicates interest and respect. On the other hand, Japanese may look away from anothere’s eyes almost completely to be polite(68). For example, in Japan, when students are scolded by their teacher, they tend to not stare his eyes, because it is sometimes received as provocative attitude and it makes him unger. When peopele communicate verbally or non verbally with other members of their own culture, they do so with seeming ease. Their experiential backgrounds are similar enough that they share basically the same meaning for most of the words and actions used in everyday communication. Verbal and non verbal meanings are learned and reside with in people( 60).
At last, Personal space is the region surrounding each person, or that area which a person considers their domain or territory. Often if entered by another being without this being desired, it makes them feel uncomfortable. If someone pierces this boundary, they will feel uncomfortable and move away to increase the distance between them (EduPASS 1). The average personal distance varies from culture to culture.
Japanese tend to have narrow personal space, for they take an elevator though it congested. They can bear that their shoulders touch others ones. On the other hand, few Americans take a crowded elevator. They prefer wait other elevator to take a crowded one, because they tend to require more personal space than Japanese.
In conclusion, many differences are brought about between different cultures. Sometimes difference bring about misunderstanding, and it makes intercultural communication difficult. Each culture have each experiences. Experiences have been different beliefs, attitudes, values, concepts, and expectation. People in every culture need to know that they have different culture and different ways of communication. People have to know and recognize each culture.

my favorite song!

Island in the sun
↓LYRIC↓
hip hip
hip hip
hip hip
hip hip
When you’re on a holiday
You can’t find the words to say
All the things that come to you
And I wanna feel it too
On an island in the sun
We’ll be playing and having fun
And it makes me feel so fine
I can’t control my brain
hip hip
hip hip
When you’re on a golden sea
You don’t need no memory
Just a place to call your own
As we drift into the zone
On an island in the sun
We’ll be playing and having fun
And it makes me feel so fine
I can’t control my brain
We’ll run away together
We’ll spend some time forever
We’ll never feel bad anymore
hip hip
hip hip
hip hip
On an island in the sun
We’ll be playing and having fun
And it makes me feel so fineI
can’t control my brain
We’ll run away together
We’ll spend some time forever
We’ll never feel bad anymore
Hip Hip(hip hip)
We’ll never feel bad anymore
(hip hip)
no no
(hip hip)
We'll never feel bad anymore
(hip hip)

my team mates.

These are my teammates!
I belong to skiing team named “IF BASIC SKI TEAM”.
This team is composed of 4 fourth grades, 10 third grades, 5 second grades, and 16 first grades.
Although I don’t like my seniors so much, I like this team.
We argued about how to administration our team many times, but every time we argued, we held consultation and we talk about problems through to the end.
Third grades are leader of our team. Next year, I have to be leader of this team.I hope I can make our team better than now with my same year team mates.

However I was happy ‘cause my younger team mates looks happy.
Although almost all of them are beginner, they made progress rapidly and they look satisfied with their progress.
I hope they could have a good impression with skiing.

Our ski team will spend two month at Nagano to ski.
We are going to skiing two month every day, and going to take part in some skiing competition.
Last season, it was really hard to doing ski every day without long rest, but I enjoyed those days in the end.
